About Department Advising Department advising should help undergraduate and graduate students fulfill their educational goals, achieve academically, and graduate as quickly as possible. We seek to create a critical link between the University community and our students, articulate the institution's academic purposes, and help students understand and negotiate EMU's rules, regulations, and requirements. Our faculty provide help and guidance to students through a variety of advising activities, including student referrals. Advisors in the department assist students as they evaluate academic goals and objectives, design programs and select courses in their major or minor. The Political Science faculty members provide individual advising appointments for current political science majors and minors as well as prospective new students. Our faculty also help transfer students and those who have returned and wish to pursue a degree through the Second Bachelor degree program. The Political Science faculty work in close conjunction with other advising departments at EMU to ensure that students are provided with all the information they need to graduate. Additionally our faculty provide students with assistance in the selection of graduate programs throughout the world. Pre-Law Advising Center Specialized advising is available for students interested in law school. Department advisors are capable of providing information on the Law School Admittance Test and assisting in matching students with appropriate law schools. Student Peer Advising. Members of Pi Sigma Alpha, the Political Science Honor Society devote time each semester to advise their fellow undergraduates about graduation requirements, career options, and the benefits of studying political science. The schedule for peer advising is available in the department office. Frequently Asked Questions About Advising Contact Political Science Advisors |
