Message from the Department Head
Welcome to the Department of Political Science!
We offer several exciting undergraduate
and graduate programs through the university’s College
of Arts and Sciences. Undergraduate offerings include programs
in political science, political science for secondary education,
public administration, public law and government, public safety
administration, international affairs, and nonprofit administration. The department
also coordinates pre-law studies for the University.
Our undergraduate students participate in interesting activities through the many clubs that we have. For example, the Mock Trial Club provides an exciting educational opportunity that allows students to gain valuable hands-on experience with the legal process. Students interested in global issues play the role of international diplomats at intercollegiate Model UN simulation conferences thorugh the Model UN Club (now called the United Nations Student Alliance). The Public Administration Club members are actively following state and national politics and network with legislators on a regular basis.
At the
graduate level, the department offers eight specialized graduate
certificate programs in public administration, a Masters of
Public Administration degree as well as a political science
concentration within the interdisciplinary Master of Arts in
Social Science.
Our internship programs give both undergraduate and graduate students the opportunity to connect theory with practice, to develop marketable skills, to network, and to work with state and community agencies.
We are proud to house a faculty of active researchers,
several of whom have been recognized at the national, state,
and university levels for their outstanding and innovative teaching and research.
Please feel free to explore our site to learn more about our programs, to visit our offices in person or to contact us by phone or e-mail. We look forward to hearing from you!
